Your invention must be the following to get a patent:
1. Doing a global patent search is recommended as you want to make sure your product is new.
2. Your invention should not be that obvious to somebody that has experience and knowledge on the subject.
3. It should be capable of being made by some kind of company or industry.
Your invention must not be:
1. A musical, artistic, literary or artistic work
2. A theory or method, a scientific or mathematical discovery
3. A plant or animal
4. Against morality or public policy
5. A diagnosis or method of medical treatment

Applying for a patent
Patent applications which are submitted must include:
1. A completed form 1 that you can get from the Intellectual Property Office.
2. A short abstract that summarizes all of your invention’s technical features.
3. A full description of your invention which include drawings of it.
4. A set of claims or definition in words of the invention that you want to protect.
